Morgan Sindall Construction has submitted planning applications for two projects at £1bn Paddington Village development scheme in Liverpool, UK.

The projects include a £40m four-star hotel and a 12-storey car park.

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson said: “This new hotel and the car park and energy centre are all vital to the completion of our Paddington Village site.

“They are crucial pieces of infrastructure needed to support all the amazing businesses that are flocking to this game-changing development.”

Designed by Ryder Architecture, the new 13-floor hotel will be a franchise of Accor Novotel. Located opposite the New Royal Hospital, it will be operated by Legacy Hotels & Resorts,

It will comprise 221 beds, three meeting spaces and a co-working space, as well as a gym, restaurant, bar and roof terrace.

Situated on the Elm Grove site within Paddington Village, the new car park with a combined heat and power energy centre has been designed by KKA.

The car park’s latest design is a revised one, with its height now increased to 12 stories from eight.

Under the new plan, the capacity of the car park has been increased from 1,088 to 1,245 bays.

The site that will house the car park presently houses residential properties, which will be eventually demolished.

These properties have currently been acquired by the Liverpool City Council, who is in charge of developing the Paddington Village project in three phases.

Morgan Sindall Construction North West managing director Barry Roberts said: “The revised plans for the car park reflect the requirement that the development is set to have higher levels of interest and popularity than previously anticipated, partly driven by the excellent standard of building the area will boast – as evidenced by the plans for the hotel.

Morgan Sindall Construction has also been tasked with the design and construction of The Spine as part of the Paddington Village project.

Estimated to cost £35m, The Spine will serve as the northern headquarters of the Royal College of Physicians. Work on the facility is expected to be completed next year.
