3L Alliance has appointed global contractor Multiplex to build a residential tower in its $1bn Queens Place mixed-use development in Central Business District (CBD) of Melbourne, Australia.

The project is located at 350 Queen Street at the verge of Flagstaff Hill. It features twin towers with some 1,500 apartments spanning 80 levels each set above a podium.

The development will offer retail and commercial office suites, as well as a public plaza with a laneway shopping precinct.

The development will also feature luxurious lifestyle amenities such as restaurants, private cinemas, a library, poker and mahjong room, a private garden terrace, karaoke suite and a cigar bar.

“We are delighted to be part of this exciting new project.”

Multiplex regional managing director Graham Cottam said: “We are delighted to be part of this exciting new project, set to deliver a vibrant new vertical community to Melbourne’s CBD along with some innovative and engaging public spaces.”

The twin tower is designed in collaboration by Cox Architecture and Fender Katsalidis Architect.

Stage one of Queens Place development is valued at $355m. This stage will involve constructing a six-level basement, six-level podium and the first 80 level residential tower, offering 815 apartments and exclusive penthouses. It will also include a swimming pool, gymnasium and crèche.

Construction is set to start immediately while its completion is expected in the second quarter of 2021.

Queens Place is near to Crown and the Yarra River. It has easy access to public transport to gardens and universities.

The raised positioning of the site will also offer panoramic views of the CBD.
