Property developer Nakheel has started construction of a rooftop infinity swimming pool at The Palm Tower in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE.
The Palm Tower is Nakheel’s 52-storey, luxury hotel and residential complex.
Situated at an altitude of 210m above ground on the 50th floor of The Palm Tower, the infinity pool is being built across an area of 775km² and will have the capacity to hold 930,000l of water.
The swimming pool borders all sides of the building and will offer panoramic views across Palm Jumeirah, the Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline.
Nakheel noted that a podium housing a speciality restaurant on the 51st level and a 240m-high public viewing deck on the 52nd storey will be built above the pool.
The company expects to start the construction of the rooftop dining viewing deck complex soon.
The first 18 floors of the Palm Tower are occupied by a 289-room St Regis hotel, which comprises fully furnished studios and one, two and three bedroom apartments on the upper floors. The hotel is set to open later this year and fit-out has already started.
The building also houses 432 luxury residences, as well as dining and leisure facilities.
According to Nakheel, around 850 construction workers are currently on-site at the Palm Tower.
This figure will increase to more than 1,500 when internal fit-out activity reaches peak level in the coming weeks.
The Palm Tower is also directly connected to the Nakheel Mall, which is under construction.
The mall serves as the access point for the public viewing deck and consists of 350 shops, restaurants and other facilities. Construction of the Nakheel Mall is anticipated to be completed this year.
