NCC has secured a design-build contract worth Skr750m ($78.42m) from Sweden-based properties developer Fabege to construct an office building next to Arenastaden in Solna.

The Kvarter Poolen project covers the construction of an office building that will serve as TietoEVRY’s new Swedish office. The building will have a total area of 35,000m² over ten floors.

As part of the project, a public swimming pool will also be constructed in the building under a separate construction contract. It will be managed by Solna Municipality.

The roof will be covered by solar panels and will also feature green spaces.

Fabege Projects and Development director Klas Holmgren said: “We are extremely pleased to continue our good collaboration with NCC in the Arenastaden district.

“Last year, we realised ICA’s vision for its new head office and won the BREEAM Building of the Year award, so we are looking forward now to working further together on a new, unique office for TietoEVRY.”

The new office building will be environmentally classified under the BREEAM Excellent standard. This standard imposes strict requirements on choice of materials, waste and water management, among others.

NCC Building Sweden business area manager Henrik Landelius said: “We look forward to completing another project in partnership with Fabege in Arenastaden, constructing a modern office building with a high sustainability profile. The exciting and innovative architecture will make the building a landmark.”

Earlier, the company won construction contracts for foundation engineering work for Solna Municipality at the site in question.

The office building construction will start immediately and will be ready for occupancy in March 2022.
