US-based real estate developer AKA has selected Italian architect and designer firm Piero Lissoni Associati for developing the residential-led project AKA University City in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The project is located at 30th and Walnut, at the centre of Cira Centre South, and has been planned as a 830,000ft² mixed-use building.
The top 19 stories of the tower will have brand new ultra-luxury residential spaces ranging from hotel suites to apartment residences.
Level 28 of the building will be developed as an entire floor offering wellness spaces, as well as lifestyle-enhancing amenities and services.
AKA president Larry Korman said: "Piero Lissoni is undoubtedly the ideal design partner for this world-class project.
"Lissoni's distinct minimalistic approach and mastery of proportion is harmonious with the AKA brand's architecture and design philosophy that translates throughout all of our accommodations around the globe."
Interior designs created by Piero Lissoni are expected to complement the structure's architecture, which has been visualised and executed by architectural firms Pelli Clarke Pelli and BLTa.
Residences to be built on floors 29 through to 46 will feature expansive ten foot ceilings and offer panoramic views of the Philadelphia city.
Furnished residences in the building will be developed in a unified style, with little customised modifications.
