Wood Partners selected Balfour Beatty Construction to build its new 13-storey residential tower in Washington's North of Massachusetts Avenue (NoMa).
To be located at 33 N Street NE, the new building will have easy and quick access to the US Capitol and Union Station.
In order to make room for the new apartment building, Wood Partners has started demolition of the two-storey office building. Construction of the new building is slated to begin this March.
The first units of the 346-unit, concrete-framed luxury high-rise are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
The building will feature a three-level parking garage with 210 spaces, and will be a combination of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, as well as a select number of micro units and two-level suites.
Among the lifestyle facilities to be incorporated into the building include a fitness centre, club room, co-working space, rooftop pool with resort-style cabanas and barbecue grilling stations, and dog park.
The Hickock Cole Architects-designed project is registered with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
Balfour Beatty Construction project executive Bryan Frady said: "Wood Partners is well known for developing intelligently-designed projects that greatly enhance communities around the country and we are honoured to be their construction partner.
"We have a great history working with Wood Partners, particularly in the Southeast region, and we're excited to be their construction partner for the first time in the Mid-Atlantic region.
"Our team has been deeply involved on this project throughout the preconstruction phase and will continue leveraging the latest technologies and Lean construction methodologies to deliver this tremendous project."
