The European Investment Bank (EIB) will extend €90m in funding to University College Dublin in Ireland for the redevelopment of campus facilities.

The funds will be used to develop six buildings, including the second stage of UCD’s Science Centre, construction of a new School of Law, and refurbishment and construction of student accommodation.

The redevelopment will help the campus become more compact and will bring leisure and academic functions closer together.

The new project will incorporate the same energy-efficient design as the Science East project, which has been awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent, and it will also provide new and improved commuting, parking and transportation links.

The project is expected to be completed in December 2015.
