Sharjah-based Bukhatir Group subsidiary Sports Cities International is planning to restart work on the $4.9bn (AED18bn) Tunis Sports City in the Tunisian capital of Tunis.

The 256ha project will accommodate 30,000 residents, with a residential district comprising an 18-hole golf course, 49 luxury mansions, two residential towns and ten high-rise buildings.

The sports city will also house nine sports academies, a 10,000-seat outdoor stadium, a 5,000-seat indoor stadium and at least one Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Construction work on the project is expected to be completed by 2025.
