Khazna Data Centres (Khazna) has hired Laing O’Rourke to design and build its Pods 4, 5 and 6 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Expected to double Khazna's data centre capacity, the expansion project will cover around 31,000m² across the existing centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Under the deal, Laing O’Rourke will design and construct a two-storey building for each pod, and will be responsible for mechanical, electrical and plumbing works.

The design work has begun with immediate effect with on-site works expected to commence in early next year.

"We are delighted to extend our long-term client relationship with Khazna on these prestigious data centre projects."

The projects will be handed over in summer 2019 in Dubai and autumn 2019 in Abu Dhabi.

Laing O’Rourke Middle East business managing director Mark Andrews said: “We are delighted to extend our long-term client relationship with Khazna on these prestigious data centre projects. Integrating our Group’s design, construction and fit-out talents in one team provides clients with a clear advantage in terms of surety of delivery.”
