US baseball team Minnesota Twins is set to install power management company Eaton's Ephesus sports lighting light-emitting diode (LED) and controls system at Target Field for the 2017 season.
Target Field is a 38,885-seat open-air baseball park designed by Populous and located in the Warehouse District west of Downtown Minneapolis.
The easy-to-install LED system is expected to improve the viewing experience for spectators, and cuts energy usage by as much as 75%.
Eaton Ephesus Lighting business president Mike Lorenz said: “Since we installed the first solid-state sports lighting system, facility operators and team executives have come to understand that our digital lighting solutions offer a distinct advantage when compared to conventional LED lights in creating an enhanced stage for fans and performers.
“Professional baseball teams have been especially drawn to the ability of our system to better minimise glare zones and keep lighting levels consistent for players and fans, as the sun sets and it turns from dusk to the night sky.”
The system features the Ephesus Stadium Pro fixtures to illuminate the playing field and is available with 100% dimming capabilities, tunable light temperature and new control capabilities within each fixture.
The Ephesus system will provide optimal lighting that illuminates equally on the playing surface.
Sporting arenas already using Eaton's system include the University of Phoenix Stadium (Arizona Cardinals), Hard Rock Stadium (Miami Dolphins), US Bank Stadium (Minnesota Vikings), Bridgestone Arena (Nashville Predators), Globe Life Park in Arlington (Texas Rangers) and the Martinsville Speedway, Virginia.
Eaton’s Ephesus Lighting business manufactures sports lighting solutions for various applications, ranging from municipal ball fields to indoor and outdoor professional venues.
