The Planning Committee of Ottawa in Canada has approved a zoning application submitted by builder Richcraft to construct three towers at the corner of Carling and Preston Street.

The towers exceed the city’s building height limits and will stand at 55 storeys-high, the second 45 storeys and the third tower 18. The complex will be located at 845 Carling Ave, west of Preston Street.

According to the company, the three towers named The Sky will have total of 1,120 units.

"The property will be zoned as a mixed-use centre and will provide an opportunity for Richcraft to consider offices or a hotel."

In 2012, Richcraft purchased the Dow Honda property and has since been holding discussions with the city and community about its plan.

The project has been designed by Toronto architects Graziani and Corazza and will feature ground floor commercial space and a plaza.

Media sources report that Claridge Homes has already commenced construction works on the 45-storey tower.

If the committee’s decisions receive council support, the property will be zoned as a mixed-use centre and will provide an opportunity for Richcraft to consider offices or a hotel, in addition to residential units.
