Peel Group has submitted plans to Salford City Council for the remaining four phases of its MediaCityUK development at Salford Quays, Greater Manchester, UK.

The new phases will be developed on a 25-acre site at MediaCityUK, which will provide a purpose-built home for creative and digital businesses. The proposed development will complement the existing site and consists of 212,000m2 of office space, 95,000m2 of residential buildings, a 26,000m2 hotel, 8,000m2 of retail, 2,500m2 of leisure facilities and 115,000m2 of car parking.
MediaCityUK managing director Stephen Wild said: "We see the new development playing a pivotal role in supporting what Peel has already built in the initial phases, as well as furthering the city council’s aspiration of creating a new town centre at Salford Quays."
"This is a 20-year plan and demonstrates our continuing long-term commitment to the area. We will now consult as widely as possible in producing our detailed plans," he added.

Peel Group expects planning permission to be granted by 22 March. Green features in the development will include preservation of existing trees to create an ‘ecology corridor’ and green roofs for preservation of rainwater run-off and rainwater harvesting. Buildings will be designed to facilitate natural light and ventilation and will also feature low-energy technologies including water heaters and combined heat and power systems.

By GlobalDataAs part of Salford City’s plan for 2010-30, the facilities will be developed to incorporate good urban design principles as well as the infrastructure needs of Salford Quays as a whole, including transport and green features. Phase one of the project, completed in 2011, includes 70,000ft2 of offices (including space for the BBC, ITV and University of Salford), 250,000ft2 of high definition studios, 378 new apartments, a 218-bed hotel and a car park with 2,200 spaces.
MediaCityUK is being developed and managed by Peel Media, a division of the Peel Group.
