Hyndburn Borough Council in Lancashire, UK has approved plans submitted by Praxis for a developing a 1 million ft² employment park at Whitebirk.

To be named the Frontier Park, the mixed-use development has been planned to be set-up next to Junction 6 of the M65.

The scheme includes construction of industrial and distribution units, along with an additional 35,000ft² of hotel, food and leisure space.

Praxis intends to start on-site preparatory works for the project in December and expects this to last nine months.

Initial construction phase for the development has been scheduled to start next year, with the first building set to be occupied by 2017 end.

Property investor Praxis has pre-let the five-acre roadside element of the mixed-use scheme to occupiers, and it will include a drive-thru, a petrol filling station and a budget hotel operator.

Praxis director and head of asset management said: "Now that we have secured planning permission we intend to hit the ground running to turn these plans into a reality.
