RTA-Office has won first prize in Qingdao’s Innovation Park design project competition, which is a one million m² development targeting IT companies from all over Qingdao.

According to RTA, construction on the project is scheduled to start in 2016.

Set to be located at the centre of the development, RTA-Office’s project consists of a total of six office towers consisting of two 160m-high buildings, two at 100m and two 70m-tall adjacent buildings.

RTA-Office’s design takes into account the two existing towers at Innovation Park, as well as the position of the site, local regulations and the client’s request.

" The winning team has designed a façade that… reflects the original idea to create the project, which was inspired by the natural movement of Qingdao’s sea breeze."

Connected by a detached podium, the four main office towers are arranged along an axis that accentuates the main entrance in the office complex. The podium holds all of the office building’s public functions.

The winning team has designed a façade that offers solar protection for the office and reflects the original idea to create the project, which was inspired by the natural movement of Qingdao’s sea breeze.

The building’s interior presents a regular floor plan scheme that responds to functional, as well as economic motives. The shape of the complex’s outer side has been completely generated by aluminium stripes that provide sun shading.

The new design will allow natural light enter the office space while also keeping heat out.
