Shimizu has secured a 20bn yen ($259.27m) contract for the redevelopment of a mixed-use complex named Capitol Development in Singapore.
The large-scale complex consists of four buildings including a cinema/theatre, a luxury hotel and residential tower, and will built on a shopping mall with a floor area of 50,000m2.
Heritage buildings will be refurbished and one existing building will be replaced.
The redevelopment scheme also includes the refurbishment and transformation of Capitol Theatre into a cinema cum theatre, and both the Capitol Building and Stamford House will be restored into a luxury hotel and retail space.
Under the project, the existing Capitol Centre will be demolished and replaced with a new complex and residential tower.
The new building will comprise 12 storeys with a six-storey basement spread across an area of 29,000m2.
Construction work on the project is scheduled to be completed by November 2014.
