Sterling Cottages near the University of North Carolina in the US has secured LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council for achievement in green building and design.

The building consists of two-storey townhomes and cottage flats built by an affiliate of Dinerstein with features that decrease energy use and promote sustainable living.

The sustainable features incorporated in the project include low-e argon windows, high-efficiency lighting fixtures and compact fluorescent bulbs.

It also includes a high-efficiency irrigation system, high-grade air filters and programmable thermostats.
