The city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands is now home to world’s first Smog Free Tower, which will act as the ‘largest purifier in the world.’
Designed by Studio Roosegaarde, comprising Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde and his team of experts, the Smog Free Tower is equipped with patented ion technology that enables it to function as a smog vacuum cleaner.

The project has been launched in the Dutch city and will be transported worldwide with the next destination being Beijing. Other high-pollution cities such as New Delhi, Paris, Los Angeles and Mexico City, are also on the list.
The tower is a 7m unit located near the Stadshavens inner harbor. It features ionic filters to charge and remove smog particles by blowing fresh air out of the tower’s side vents.
This action creates a high-pressure zone emitting air bubbles, providing air that is 75% cleaner than in the rest of the city.

Roosegarde also creates jewellery from the collected carbon-filled smog dust particles.
He has developed a Smog Free Ring, which represents the cleaning of 1,000m³ of polluted air, as well as Smog Free Cufflinks.
