Flintshire County Council in Wales, UK, has selected Wates Living Space as its development partner for its strategic housing and regeneration programme (SHARP).

Flintshire County Council in Wales, UK, has selected Wates Living Space as its development partner for its strategic housing and regeneration programme (SHARP).

SHARP is a housing programme with the task of setting up 300 affordable homes and 200 council homes over five years.

To be developed across the north-east of Wales, the project is expected to offer a contract value of around £500m for the development role, reports Construction Enquirer.

"The council is likely to invest in land for private schemes for an extended time period."

The deal will be supported by a provision for extension of up to five years.

Project scope includes potential non-residential constructions, and in addition, the council is likely to invest in land for private schemes for an extended time period.

Development has been planned for three sites in the Welsh county, two being urban and one rural.

The three sites comprise cleared maisonettes in Flint, with a combination of 95 houses and apartments; the now-unoccupied site of the former Custom House School in Connah's Quay; and a rural site in Leeswood.

Design of the new homes will be subject to further plans this year, followed by planning application submissions.

Wates Living Space previously worked in co-ordination with the council, as well as for the Welsh Housing Quality Standard improvement programme.
