White Arkitekter has secured planning permission for a cultural centre at the end of Southend Pier in the UK.

The 364m2 centre was designed by White Arkitekter in collaboration with architect Sprunt and features a wave-shaped roof built from triangular panels.

The cultural centre will have seating for 185 people, an artists’ studio and a cafe and dining area.

The original building was built during the Victorian era, but was gutted by a fire in 2005.
