Willmott Dixon has received a £20m contract for the construction of Anglia Ruskin University’s School of Medicine in Essex, England, UK.

Set to be built on the Chelmsford campus of the University, the Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine will include specialist teaching space, a lecture theatre and an anatomy suite.

The construction firm obtained the project for the undergraduate medical school through Scape Major Works Framework.

The new building will provide over 3,100m² of space over three storeys and is expected to fulfil the medical workforce shortage in Essex’s primary care, mental health and acute care sectors.

Anglia Ruskin University vice-chancellor professor Iain Martin said: “This is a very significant step towards us helping address the urgent need for more doctors and healthcare professionals in the UK and specifically in Essex.
