Prostyle, an operator of real estate companies, has announced that the development of a luxury residential complex in the Miyanomori area of Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Japan, has been initiated.

Set on high ground, the 11-storey residential complex Prostyle Sapporo Miyanomori will be supervised by designer Kengo Kuma and is being built with natural solid wood.

As part of the development, Prostyle and the architect aim to create a residence where people can lead lives of luxury surrounded by wood.

The residential building has been inspired by the nature-rich location of Miyanomori and will be constructed along the slope of a hill that provides a sweeping view of the Sapporo cityscape.

Prostyle Sapporo Miyanomori comprises smaller individual residences and provides the warmth of the natural solid wood.

The outer wall of the complex will feature lavish amounts of thinned Japanese cedar from Hokkaido, a type of wood known as Donan Sugi.

In addition, the building has been designed with conservation of the local environment in mind and includes new techniques.

The frames for the concrete will also use thinned wood, which is collected at the time of thinning out trees that have clustered too close together during a forest’s growth process.

Prostyle Sapporo Miyanomori’s entrance features a tasteful design that coordinates with the mood and warmth of the wood that permeates the living room.

The rooftop balcony on the building is suitable for barbecues in the warmer seasons.
