Property developer and contractor Tide Construction has received planning approval for the construction of a new student accommodation project at Canary Wharf, London, UK.

The project, named 30 Marsh Wall, will offer space for 1,068 beds.

Designed by architectural practice EPR Architects, the 48-storey building will become the tallest modular tower in the country, reported Construction Enquirer.

Its design will offer amenity space and a roof garden.

The public space will be improved with a public path between Cuba Street and Marsh Wall, as well as recreational space to serve as a ‘pocket park’.

The company will be the project’s developer and contractor and will build the tower with precision-made modules that are manufactured by its sister company Vision Modular Systems.

As reported by Bdaily, the new student accommodation project further strengthens Tide’s pipeline of projects that are currently under construction and in planning.

Currently, the company has more than 3,000 homes under construction.

Tide Construction chairman John Fleming was Construction Enquirer as saying: “This landmark scheme bolsters our portfolio of major schemes in London, further strengthening Tide and Vision’s role in revolutionising the way in which homes are delivered in the UK.

“Working in close collaboration with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and our consultants, this scheme will further demonstrate the power of modular to deliver buildings of the highest architectural quality with world-leading engineering.”

In partnership with Vision Modular Systems, Tide Construction has already delivered a portfolio of modular developments, including hotels, housing and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) for institutional investors and partners in the UK.

At the 30 Marsh Wall, the method of delivery of Tide and Vision will lead to an 80% cut down in site waste and will also ensure that any waste produced will be recycled.

In 2018, Tide Construction was appointed by Greystar Real Estate Partners and Henderson Park to construct two of the world’s tallest towers in Croydon, London.
