Urban Catalyst has announced the submission of its site development permit and vesting tentative tract map for its Icon/Echo Towers in San Jose, California, US.
The transit-oriented development is expected to bring new office space and residential units to downtown San Jose.
Icon/Echo, which is being designed by WRNS Architecture in coordination with Studio Current, is located at 147 E Santa Clara Street in the heart of downtown.
Upon completion, apartment and commercial operator Greystar will manage the project, which is being built under federal opportunity zone legislation.
Icon/Echo Towers will create more than 300 multifamily apartment units and 420,000ft² of Class-A office space.
Covering nearly two acres of land, the two towers will feature more than 50,000ft² of outdoor amenities, including rooftop gardens and interior common areas.
At present, Urban Catalyst is accepting investments for the project.
Urban Catalyst founder and CEO Erik Hayden said: “Building high-density development near transit is Urban Planning 101.
“This project is located on Santa Clara Street, the main drag of the central business district. Once completed, this community could be home to more than 500 residents and over 2,000 employees.”
Urban Catalyst has also concluded the conforming rezone process for the project to align with the city’s general plan.
The initial Tentative Map approval has also been received for the project land.
After purchasing two of the four parcels for the development, Urban Catalyst is under contract to purchase the remaining two.
