The Victorian State Government has granted approval for Beulah International’s $2bn Southbank by Beulah project designed by UNStudio and COX Architecture.

Last month, the City of Melbourne’s Future Melbourne Committee unanimously backed the project, which is dubbed a vertical mini-metropolis.

The permit allows Beulah to transform the existing CBD BMW site into a 270,000m² vertical village. Set to be Australia’s tallest tower, it will be 365m high.

It is also deemed to become the world’s tallest vertical garden.

Private residences, public and green spaces, rooftop sky garden commercial offices and a five-star urban resort will be part of Southbank by Beulah.

Reportedly, Beulah has already begun discussions with global brands in the hospitality, retail and cultural sectors who are looking for a transformative project of this calibre.

The major attraction of the building will be pocket parks, along with a publicly accessible rooftop sky garden 100 storeys above ground.

Pocket parks are designed to connect neighbourhoods within the residential tower, offering residents a sense of community and a place to relax.

At the time of construction, the project is anticipated to generate more than 4,700 jobs. Furthermore, it will provide 3,250 new ongoing direct jobs across multiple industries such as office, retail, entertainment, hospitality and child care.

Construction is expected to commence next year and will be completed in around five years.
