English Premier League football club West Ham has announced that London Stadium will undergo renovations for the start of next season.

The club has appointed Arena Events Group to install two tiers of seats at the Sir Trevor Brooking and Bobby Moore stands. This redevelopment is expected to bring spectators closer to the pitch by over 4m.

The stands will be squared-off behind the goals, in accordance with conventional football stadium configuration.

In a statement, West Ham said: “Following an initial presentation to the Club’s Official Supporters Board in February 2019, the Club and E20 will now look to present the latest plans later this month for discussion and consultation and to explore the opportunities the new seating configuration presents to further enhance the matchday experience and incorporate yet further the famous Claret and Blue at the Stadium.

“It is important to the Club that supporters have the opportunity to provide feedback to all parties before design work continues. Following a period of design development, E20 and West Ham United will review the stands with the aim of installing the seats this summer.”

London Stadium was developed for the 2012 Olympics and was later converted into a football ground at a reported cost of £323m.
