Leeds City Council will consider the detailed design plans for a new arena in Leeds, England, next week.

The 12,500-seat stadium, which includes a public square, has been designed by international practice Populous.

The project has been backed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment.

The building has incorporated many energy- and water-efficient technologies in its design, according to bdonline.co.uk.

The arena is expected to be complete in 2012 and will be opened by 2013.
