The new $125m Valley Performing Arts Center, being built at the California State University in the US, will be opened on 29 January 2011.
The 1700-seat performance hall has been designed by HGA Architects & Engineers and is being delivered by US-based firm C.W. Driver.
The 15,421m² centre comprises two connected buildings wrapped around a central exterior courtyard.
The building’s main concert hall will feature a glass curtain, glass lobby and a rooftop terrace.
The centre’s performance hall is designed with the latest acoustical technology and will feature a three-tier seating configuration.
The complex also includes several large rehearsal rooms, academic and professional production support spaces, theatre studio-classrooms, a 230-seat lecture hall and studio facilities for a public radio station.
The arts centre is being funded through a public-private partnership.
