Fabric Structure Systems has won a contract to design a NZ$9.8m (US$7.5m) temporary party venue in Auckland, New Zealand, for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The 4,430m² structure will be covered by an undulating roof and will be located at the Queens Wharf.

The tent-like structure called "the Cloud" will feature transparent walls offering unobstructed views and accommodating up to 6,000 people.

The development's canopy will be made from white Ferrari PVC and the sides and ends of the structure will made from the transparent fabric ETFE.

Work on the site will begin in March 2011, and the project is expected to be complete by July next year, according to northernadvocate.co.nz.
