Leeds City Council has approved detailed designs for the £80m ($127m) Leeds Arena in West Yorkshire, England.
The council also approved the proposals to improve the aging Woodhouse Lane car park at a cost of £5.8m ($9m).
The car park revamp will involve building a new stair and lift tower and a pedestrian access bridge and other repair work along with improved lighting and CCTV surveillance.
The arena’s external honeycomb design will offer improved sight lines, and be equipped with a unique LED lighting system.
The arena will host its first event late 2012-early 2013, the council announced on their website.
