The Royal Institute of British Architects has welcomed the UK Government's Low Carbon Innovation and Growth Team report that challenges the UK's construction industry to become a world leader in low-carbon.

The institute has endorsed the emphasis that the report places on the need for a transformation in the construction industry to tackle the carbon agenda.

The institute believes the industry and its partners need to transform, with the support of the Government, in order to achieve the target of 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050.

The transition to low carbon is being termed as a business opportunity as well as a crucial response to the urgency and importance of climate change.

The institute hopes the challenge ends up changing the face of the construction industry.
