Fentress Architects Wins Design Competition for US Convention Centre

Fentress Architects and John Portman Associates have won a design competition to expand the San Diego Convention Center in California, US. The sustainable expansion will see the creation of a 7,432m² ballroom, 9,290m² of meeting rooms and 20,903m² of exhibit space.

The sustainable expansion will see the creation of a 7,432m² ballroom, 9,290m² of meeting rooms and 20,903m² of exhibit space.

John Portman Associates will design a 250-500-room hotel near the expansion.

The project's environmental and funding plans are expected to be completed by 2011 while construction is slated to begin in 2013 and be completed by 2015.
