Welsh Campus Building to Open Next Year

The new campus building being delivered for the University of Wales in Newport is expected to open in January 2011. The £35m ($54.6m) facility has been designed by BDP Architects and will house the Newport Business School and the Newport School of Art, Media and Design.

The £35m ($54.6m) facility has been designed by BDP Architects and will house the Newport Business School and the Newport School of Art, Media and Design.

The five-storey building will feature 23 seminar rooms, four lecture theatres, two film studios, two design rooms, a sound studio, a refectory, a dance room and a ballet bar.

It also features a 26-seat boardroom, a roof garden, an exhibition area, administrative office and a café.

Work was carried out by Willmott Dixon, project manager Mott MacDonald and electronics and mechanics experts AECOM.
