The Te Ahu Charitable Trust has approved plans for the internal design of a multipurpose community centre in Kaitaia, New Zealand.
The NZ$15m ($11.2m) project has been designed by New Zealand’s Story, which will now begin the detailed design phase of the development.
The community centre will include a theatre and cinema, community centre, library, museum, information and council services centre.
The Kaitaia Council contributed NZ$9.5m ($7m) towards the project while the Te Ahu Charitable Trust donated NZ$5.5m ($4m).
Construction is underway, with completion scheduled towards the end of 2011, according to nbr.co.nz .
