Arup Associates’ 500-seat model solar-cooled stadium will be built in Qatar, following the nation’s success in the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The model stadium Qatar Showcase is a carbon-zero development that is expected to serve as a platform for application across Qatar, according to Arup.
p> The model stadium will use photovoltaic panels to generate electricity from sunlight, which will be used to power air conditioning systems.
One of the other key design features of the stadium is the revolving roof canopy, which will move to provide shade within the building.
The model stadium will feature a photovoltaic installation outside its premises which will be used to meet the facility’s energy needs and export energy to the national grid.
