San Francisco-based Jensen Architects has been selected to design the new $12m Emeryville Center for the Arts in California, US.

Jensen Architects beat six other firms to win the design competition organised by the board of the Emeryville Arts Center.

The design proposes a three-storey glass-clad building with a theatre and an open-air terrace, to be housed in a former industrial building on site.

The new centre is slated to open in 2012, according to sfgate.com.
