The new $37m DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York, US, will open on 8 March 2011 and house the Orchestra of St Luke’s.
Designed by H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, the new centre will be acoustically-optimised by designer Akustiks.
The 1,858m² centre will feature rehearsal and recording spaces, a chamber ensemble room, a green room, two artist studios, a learning and media centre, a musicians lounge and cafe, a music library, resource centre and instrument storage facilities.
The facility has incorporated energy and water-efficient strategies and is expected to achieve the LEED-CI (LEED for commercial interiors) Platinum certification.
The DiMenna Center is supported by the Orchestra of St Luke’s $50m “fund for the future” capital and endowment campaign as well as special endowment funds, according to broadwayworld.com.
