Architects Sink Combs Dethlefs and developer Cianbro Corporation have unveiled new plans for a proposed arena complex in Maine, US.
The new plans include a 5,800-seat arena that is able to expand to accommodate 8,050 people.
The project’s cost, which last month was estimated at between $71m and $80m, has now shrunk to $65m.
The initial design included a connected meeting building and sky bridges over Main Street and Dutton Street but these plans were scrapped, according to Bangor Daily News.
About $54m from the city’s proceeds from Hollywood Slots could be utilised for the project. Bangor has already collected around $10m from the hotel and raceway, and is expecting to collect between $2.5m and $3m annually.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in May 2011, following approval by Bangor city officials, which is expected in next January.
