Plans for a £50m ($77.41m) council office development in Rochdale, UK, have secured planning permission.

The scheme, being developed by Sir Robert McAlpine, will see the construction of six-storey office building that will provide 16,815 m² of office space, a public library and a restaurant and cafe.

The building is expected to be built next to the River Roch, near the former Yelloway coach garage.

Once the new offices are completed, existing council sites will be demolished to make way for a speculative retail scheme, according to constructionenquirer.com.
