The Salvador Dalí Museum in St Petersburg, Florida, will unveil its new premises on 11 January 2011, with a design concept inspired by Dalí’s paintings and sculptures.
Designed by global architectural practice Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK), the new museum will house the collection of art by Spanish surreal artist Salvador Dalí.
The 6,174m² building will feature gallery space, a theatre, retail store and community space, classrooms and a library.
Another distinct feature of the museum project is the spiral staircase in the shape of a DNA strand.
Construction on the museum began in 2008, according to archrecord.
