UK-based developer Floating Concepts has been chosen as the preferred bidder to develop a £30m ($47.2m) floating village at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, Scotland.

The proposal has been designed by Glasgow-based ZM Architecture and Baca of London.

The development will comprise a marina, shops, offices, houses, a hotel and roof-top concert arena, floating above Glasow’s Canting Basin.

Plans include creating a new canal with a U-shaped floating roadway, and an 80-berth marina with a unique yacht club concept.

Work is expected to begin by mid 2012 and will be completed by 2015.
