US Museum’s $11m Design Plans Approved

Design plans for the new $11.7m Florence Museum of Art, Science and History in Florence County, Wisconsin, US, have been approved.

Designed by New York-based Cooper, Robertson and Partners architects, the new museum will span over 2,602m² and include classroom space, open storage and administrative areas.

The museum will also feature 1,022m² of exhibition space that will include a William H Johnson gallery, a Florence County exhibit area and space for rotating exhibits.

Florence County will contribute around $4m to fund the development of the museum, while investment firm Drs Bruce and Lee Foundation and the state of Wisconsin will each provide $3.9m.

Construction on the new museum is expected to begin this year with the new facility scheduled to open in 2013, according to scnow.com.
