The $160m New World Center symphony hall at the New World Symphony Orchestra Academy in Florida has been opened.

The 9,349m² centre features a curved entrance atrium and a bar topped by a blue-titanium canopy.

The centre includes 24 coaching and practice rooms, four chamber ensemble rooms, three percussion studios, three guest-artist suites, a conference room that doubles as a performance space and a separate rehearsal room.

The city of Miami Beach contributed about $15m to the New World Center, with $30m coming from Miami-Dade County and the remaining balance generated from private donations, according to South Florida Business Journal.
