The University of Alabama at Birmingham in the US has announced plans to build a new $12.5m visual arts centre.
Spanning 2,416m², the two-storey centre will house gallery space, classrooms and offices for the art and history faculty.
The centre will be clad in a thin layer of silvery zinc, with a second storey cantilevered over the first at an angle.
The university has raised about $7.5m in private donations for the centre.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2012, reports Gadsden Times.
