Global engineering firm Siemens has launched an architectural competition for the planned redesign of its world headquarters in Munich, Germany.
The company has released a shortlist of 12 national and international architectural firms that will develop concepts for the new headquarters.
The new building will include open-plan offices, conference rooms and workspaces, an employee restaurant and room for public spaces.
Siemens’ new headquarters will also include an inner courtyard with a garden, cafes, bistros and cultural offerings.
The concepts developed by the firms, including nine German firms, will be judged by a 22 member jury which is expected to deliver its verdict by June 2011.
Construction of the new facility is slated to begin in late 2012 with completion scheduled for late 2015.
