Redcar and Cleveland Council has submitted an outline planning application for a proposed £31m ($49.9m) leisure, business support and community facility in Redcar, UK.
The applications were submitted following receipt of public approval for the designs by the UK-based architecture firm, ABK.
Plans for the redevelopment include a new six-lane, 25m swimming and leisure pool; a dance hall and performance space; a fitness suite; business areas, parking and landscaped public spaces.
The plans were approved by the Cabinet Council in 2010 and were displayed for a public exhibition and consultation exercise.
A decision on the outline planning application is expected in May, following which, detailed plans will be submitted, with work slated to begin in late 2012.
