California Firm to Construct $50m Jazz Centre

California-based general contractor Hathaway Dinwiddie has secured a contract to construct the $50m SFJazz Center in San Francisco, US.

The 3,251.6m² building is being designed by San Francisco-based architect Mark Cavagnero.

Cavagnero's design plans for the centre include an auditorium with flexible seating, an 80-seat multipurpose Ensemble Room, three rehearsal spaces, a lab and a restaurant.

Theatre designer Len Auerbach of Auerbach Pollock Friedlander and Sam Berkow of SIA Acoustics are also working on the project, according to bizjournals.com.

Building permits have been obtained for the building and construction is expected to commence by mid 2012.
