The Art Deco Tower, an office tower built in the 1940s in Boston, US, will undergo a $35m renovation beginning next month.

The renovation will see the replacement of the building's loading dock with a new exterior glass lobby designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects.

The plans also include the addition of outdoor seating, space for restaurants and shops, a 110-space car park in the basement and new lights to emphasise the wavy metal grillwork at the top of the building.

Commonwealth Ventures, part of the group that bought the tower, will rename the building 50 Post Office Square, according to boston.com.
