The Canadian city of Winnipeg has unveiled design plans for the replacement of the Sturgeon Road Bridge located over Sturgeon Creek.

The replacement bridge, pushed forward due to the deterioration of steel and concrete, will include two separate spans and will be raised to include a new active transportation path along the creek.

Construction of the C$13m replacement bridge is slated to begin in February 2012.

The new bridge, expected to be completed in November 2012, will have a lifespan of 75 years, reports winnipegfreepress.com.
