London's Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum has published a shortlist of seven designs for the proposed £30m ($49m) expansion of the museum.

The design briefs required plans for a new public space beyond the Aston Webb classical screen, a new connection to the existing galleries in the western range buildings, and a new, below-ground, temporary exhibition gallery.

The seven final designs have been submitted by Tony Fretton, Heneghan Pang, Amanda Levete, Snøhetta and Hoskins, Michael Maltzan, Jun Aoki and Jamie Forbert.

The designs are on display at the V&A's Sackler Centre, and the winner is expected to be announced towards the end of March.
