The city of Sugar Land has awarded a $27.9m design-build contract for a new stadium to a consortium of Linbeck Group and Barton Malow Co. in Texas, US.
The new stadium, with a planned capacity of 7,500 seats, will be built for the Skeeters minor league baseball team.
The stadium will be developed as a multipurpose facility, which can be used for football, soccer, lacrosse, cheerleading, concerts, band competitions, weddings and meetings.
The stadium will be funded with a portion of sales-tax revenue that may only be used for economic development purposes.
Construction is expected to begin in a couple of months with completion scheduled for April 2012.
